We have now been to Paignton zoo twice with our son, Luna’s first time was a few weeks ago – not that she understood where she was. As a family we love it there and knew that we would go back after our first time two years ago. I went there when I was 17 and my partner always went there every other summer while growing up, he never got bored with the place. He loved seeing the same expressions on his sons face that he once had as a small boy. Have you ever been to Paignton zoo?
I must say that I would advise anyone to go on a cloudy day. When we went to Paignton Zoo two years ago on a really hot day and struggled, we were sweating buckets! I was so happy to see the clouds covering the sun a few weeks back. There are plenty of seating areas around each corner if anyone is in need of a rest. There is also loads of fascinating things to do, look at, other than the animals.
I lost count on how many parks and ice-cream huts we saw.
My son got his face painted and had loads of different animal faces to choose from.
I won’t waffle on too much about all of the animals as I would be here forever. I was very lucky that I got some lovely photos of them all being very active.
The below photo has to be my favourite moment at Paignton Zoo, the way the mother looked at her baby melted me, the baby looked so safe and comfortable.
I loved seeing the beautiful Peacocks roaming around.
One peacock was doing the, if worded correctly, the mating call? It was shaking its feathers for all to see on a high roof.
We spent a good hour watching the Orangutans. There was one Orangutan playing with a blanket and poking another one to play fight, the other one was not impressed.
It felt so odd being so close to a lion, I really couldn’t belive how chilled out it was considering it could see people, I guess most of the animals can see people yet not react.
Below is how close I was standing to the lion to take the above picture.
It was an exhausting day at the zoo, the place was endless. We didn’t manage to see everything because I am so unfit. Though I was keen to get back to the car I did have to have a nosey around the gift shop- We got our mums glass animals at a reasonable price. We want to go back to Paignton this summer for a whole weekend, we went to the pier for an hour wishing that we had more time to enjoy it. I also hear they have a great water park around that area or just outside of Paignton. Have you ever been to Paignton? If so what else is up there for people to visit?
